A Poplarville man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after an investigation led narcotics detectives with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department to his home.

On Oct. 31, detectives went to 119 Arthur Odom Road in Poplarville to speak to 36-year-old William Chad Smith in reference to an investigation deputies were working on regarding another individual, Sheriff David Allison said.

Upon arrival, Smith advised the detectives that he had methamphetamine in his pocket. At that time, detectives asked Smith to empty his pants’ pockets and when he did, he retrieved a container from his pocket and opened it up. Inside was a plastic bag containing 3.4 grams of methamphetamine, Allison said.
