Dear Stella Stiletto,
I have been happily married to a great guy for 3 years. As a matter of fact, we are both extremeIy happy 3 months pregnant with our first child. The problem that I am having is that he constantly leaves the toilet seat up. While this has always been an aggravation to me, it is so much worse now that I am pregnant. I am getting up all hours of the night going to the bathroom half asleep and finding myself taking a “midnight dip”. Any words of wisdom from you would be greatly appreciated.

Dear “Splash Down”,
I believe this has been a problem since the beginning of time. I was raised with 3 brothers in my family. Two of them remembered the bathroom etiquette, but my middle brother did not. I called my sister-in-law to inquire about that middle brother’s bathroom habits. After 38 years of marriage and raising two daughters in the house, he still leaves the seat up! My guess is that if your hubby has been doing this for 3 years of marriage and I assume all of his childhood, he won’t change. You said in your letter that you are happily married. Remember, always pick your battles. He has been getting away with this bad habit for many years. My advice is to explain your frustration to him and remind him that there will be many diaper changes and midnight feedings in his future!
Stella
