OBIT Robert Cage Jr

Robert Cage Jr., was born April 30, 1952 to the late Alice and Robert Cage Sr. in Vicksburg, MS.  He passed away November 5, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, MS at the age of 63.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Elzie Cage and Robert Cage Sr., a brother, Wade Peterson.
Robert Cage Jr. enlisted in the United States Navy in 1972 and received numerous achievements and medals.  He became a member of the U. S. Navy Demonstration Squadron Blue Angels.  He had twenty-five years of extensive logistic, financial and inventory support in the U. S. Navy.  He was employed for NOAA,  National Marine Fisheries Service in Pascagoula, MS., National Data Buoy Center, Stennis Space Center, MS George Sharp Inc., CACI (Commavairlant) US Force, Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk, VA.  Robert retired from National Marine Fisheries Service on April 30, 2014.
He accepted Christ at the age of eleven and became a member of New Mt. Pilgrim M. B. Church in Vicksburg, MS. He joined Tabernacle M. B. Church under the leadership of Dr. Kenneth M. Davis.  He was a dedicated usher and sang in the male choir.  He later joined St. Matthew Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joey Marks.  Currently under the leadership of Pastor Michael Kelly, he was ordained as a deacon.  He served as president of Pastor’s Aide Committee and sang in the Senior Choir.  On November 28, 1998 he united in holy matrimony to Deborah Thompson.
Robert Cage Jr., leaves to cherish his memories; loving and devoted wife, Deborah Thompson Cage, Children: Tiona Cage of Newberg, OR, Lee Nelms (Tremeka) of Great Lakes, IL, Step-children: Denita Hayes and Angela (Earl) Robinson, Andre (Patrice) Robinson all of Kansas City, MO; Twelve grand-children, two great-grandchildren, his siblings; Earnest (Rachael) Cage, DeJuan L. Cage, Demond Cage, Mable Jennings, Rosie Cage, Jennifer Cage-Kelly (Walter) all of Vicksburg, MS.  Beverly (Floyd) Aikerson of Lorman, MS, Robbie Davis of Oxford, MS, Ida Torry of Fort Worth, TX, the Elzie and Peaches families, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral will be November 12, 2015 at 10:0 a.m. at the Tabernacle M. B. Church in D’Iberville, MS.  Viewing at 9:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS.  Arrangements entrusted to Dickey Brothers Memorial Funeral Home in Biloxi, MS.
