Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Little Providence Baptist Church. Pastor Kevin Hart will officiate, assisted by Rev. Charles Thomas.
Onie Mae Nelson was born August 10, 1938 in Bassfield, MS, to her loving parents the late Asber and Martina Nelson.
She married the late Levon Saucier and two children were born to this union: the late Evon “Bigman” Nelson (Deborah) and Denist Nelson.
Later, she married the late John Earl Brown and resided in Picayune, MS, with her family. They remained members of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess. Faithful in Christ she joined Little Providence Baptist Church in 2006 where she was a matron of the Children Hope Mass Choir and GMWA (Gulf Coast Music Workshop of America) choir. She was an avid fisher and shared her skills and fish with boys and girls in the entire community.
Sister Onie Mae transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at her home embraced by loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, one sister, Dorothy Burnes, two brothers: Levell and Johnnie Cliffton Nelson.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Denist Nelson; two adopted sons: Denist and Deontra Brown; one sister, Geneva Posey; four grandchildren: Brandon, Brandy, Craig, and Greg; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Interment will be in the Picayune Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
