Pearl River County received a donation in the form of a fire truck pumper from the D’Iberville Fire Department on Tuesday. Danny Manley, Pearl River County emergency management director and fire services coordinator, said the pumper will help reduce the fire rating insurance premiums for residents in Henleyfield and McNeill.

Manley, along with Henleyfield Fire Chief Scott Sullivan and McNeill Assistant Fire Chief Michael Harris, visited D’Iberville to pick up the 1992 E-One Pumper, which will be in service at the Henleyfield Volunteer Fire Department, Manley said.

Since a new fire truck typically costs $300,000, Manley said the truck will help fire stations “until they raise enough money for a new one.”

“This is a major part of our mission, to keep insurance rates as low as possible in the county,” Manley said.

Officials with the Henleyfield station are in the process of building a new sub-station on Rock Ranch Road, said John Odle, the station’s media coordinator.

“The community has been very helpful,” Odle said.

The sub-station is being constructed to improve emergency response and lower the insurance premiums for surrounding homeowners.

Manley said he would like to thank the city of D’Iberville for their donation.
