Funeral services for Leon  D. Mitchell , age 90 of  Picayune, MS, who passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015, will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at New Palestine Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at New Palestine Baptist Church.
Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Rev. Josh Braddy will officiate the service.
A native of Picayune, MS, he was a licensed contractor and owner of Big M Construction Company and a member of New Palestine Baptist Church.
Leon said “When I die, do not tell about my life accomplishments or things that I have built on earth, but tell others about my love for Jesus.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Boyd Mitchell and Avis Mitchell Mitchell; his son-in-law, Fred Tucker; his brother, Jackie Boyd Mitchell; his sisters, Wilma Mason, Ruth Ann Breland, and Joyce Harris; and his great grandsons, Stephen Tarver and Anthony Tucker.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 68 years, Ercell Mitchell; his children, Gary Leon Mitchell, Susan Mitchell Tucker, and Libby Mitchell (Larry) Brown; 12 grandchildren, Shawn Mitchell, Michele Herndon, Christopher (Amanda) Mitchell, Brian (Chelle) Tarver, Cally (Josh) Robbins, Wayne (Melissa) Tucker, Blyss (Stephen) Bogner, Josh (Amy) Tucker, Jarred Gravitt-Tucker, Kristian Gravitt-Tucker, Kane Gravitt-Tucker, and Ashley Caughey; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; his sister, Alice Faye (Tommy) Pearson; his brother-in-law, Billy Joe Mitchell; his sister-in-law, Nell McQueen; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he loved and adored.
