On Monday, Picayune police officers responded to a single-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 43 North and Highway 11. The accident may have been caused by faulty vehicle equipment.

At 6:52 a.m., officers arrived and spoke with the driver, 17-year-old Kacy Nix of 61 Pea Ridge Road. Nix told officers she was traveling westbound on Highway 43 when the accelerator of her vehicle became stuck, Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said. She also said since she was unable to stop the vehicle she lost control and veered to the right, striking a road sign in the median at the intersection of Highway 11, Magri said.

Nix wasn’t transported to the hospital, Magri said.
