Members of the PRC Blue Brigade Booster Club will host their Halloween-themed Antique Car Show Fundraiser for the second year in a row on Oct. 31 in an effort to reach out to the community and raise money for the school’s band, color guard and dance team.

Club President Lynn Murray said everyone is welcome to attend the family-friendly event. The fundraiser will raise money to purchase new uniforms and instruments for the blue brigade.

Last year, the organization raised $1,500 during the fundraiser and Murray hopes to raise more money this year.

“This year we’re trying to make it grow and invite more people and we hope to have a good turnout,” Murray said.

The antique car show will be held at Pearl River Central High School’s parking lot, located at 1707 Highway 11 in Carriere. All antique trucks, classic cars, motorcycles and chrome 18-wheelers are invited to participate. The entry fee is $25 for one vehicle and $15 for each additional car, Murray said.

Event registration begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Each registered vehicle will be entered into a competition, where first, second and third place will be given for several categories such as best in show and best paint job. Every contestant will receive a participation award.

“If they’re going to come out and support us, we want to show our appreciation back to them,” Murray said.

Admission is free to the public.

Family activities include, a trunk-or-treat, a twist on the classic trick-or-treat, where children solicit candy from car trunks instead of households, a cake walk, 50/50 raffle, food vendors, silent auction and face painting.

Murray welcomes families to dress up in their finest Halloween costumes.

The PRC Blue Brigade consists of more than 70 students.

Murray said it’s like a huge family, especially since two of her own children participate in the brigade.

“All the kids call me momma Murray,” she said.

Recently, the blue brigade received a superior rating during the Hurricane Classic Competition at West Harrison High School and placed 12th in state championships in Pearl, Mississippi on Oct. 24.
