A Picayune man was killed Monday after his vehicle left the road and struck a tree.
At 2:50 p.m. that day, the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a car crash on Rock Ranch Road near Albert Jarrell Road, Captain Joe Quave said.
Deputies and emergency personnel arrived within minutes of the call, Quave said, but the driver appeared to have died from the impact of the crash.
It appears the driver failed to make the curve and ran off the road on the left side, Quave said.
The driver struck a low brick wall, serving as a retaining wall and then a tree, Quave said.
It was a single-vehicle accident so no one else but the driver of the black Nissan Altima was involved, Quave said.
Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage identified the driver as 34-year-old, James Allen Adams.
Turnage said Adams died as a result of blunt force trauma. The cause of the accident is still under investigation and pending toxicology results, Turnage said.
