Detectives with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a possible hit-and-run in Picayune after the body of a man was found dead near Caesar Road Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies responded to Caesar Road near West Union Road after receiving a call at 2:18 p.m. in reference to a dead body found alongside the road, Sheriff David Allison said.

Authorities describe the body as belonging to a 41-year-old male, who’s believed to be from New Orleans, Louisiana according to identification found on his person, Allison said.

Deputies have a man in custody they believe has a connection to the hit-and-run. The suspect’s red Nissan pickup truck was found and recovered by deputies on Holloway Road off of Caesar Road, Allison said.

Investigators with the sheriff’s department are currently investigating the case. Additional details will follow once law enforcement release more information, Allison said.
