Memorial Services for Bruce Douglas Minnis, age 65, of Carriere, MS who died October 11, 2015 will be held, October 17, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.

Services are under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.  

A native of Meadville, PA, he was a retired human resource specialist with the Department of the Navy at Stennis Space Center. Bruce served in the US Marine Corps, was the sitting Worshipful Master of Level #373 at the time of his death and an avid gardener who grew vegetables that he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Minnis and Dorothy Messerall Minnis; sister, Patricia Minnis.

Left to cherish his memory is his companion, Michelle “Shelly” Wurtzinger; children, Shawn B. Minnis and wife Melissa, Jacqueline P. Hetrick and Daniel Lally, Lawrence “Grady” Minnis; grandchildren, Jane Ann Hetrick, Samuel Reid Hetrick, Mia Gray Lally, Vivienne Doro Lally, and Cody Ryan Minnis. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
