Introducing new parks and rec. director

I am proud to announce the hiring of Trevor Adam, who will be our new parks and recreations director. This was necessary due to the recent resignation of Heath Stevens who has taken a job on the Gulf Coast. Heath Stevens did an outstanding job with the city’s parks and recreation programs and he will be greatly missed.
Before taking this position, Trevor Adam worked in the special education department and as a coach for Bay High School in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. He was a 2006 graduate of Bay High School and upon graduation he went to the University of West Florida to play baseball. He is currently pursuing his degree in sports and athletic administration. Sports has always been part of his life. He has been involved in parks and recreation most of his life from coaching all the way to tournament director.
Trevor’s goal as director of parks and recreation is to create a family atmosphere where everyone can come out and enjoy watching the contest on the athletic fields and also get a chance to play safely on the parks playground equipment.
During the next couple of months, he will be meeting with tournament directors from the various sports associations and talk with them about hosting larger athletic tournaments, which would bring out of town tax money into our local economy.
The more and larger the tournaments that are brought in, the more local businesses can prosper. In the future, Trevor would like to start a recreational sport league for children and adults with special needs, which is near and dear to all of us.
