This Saturday, Picayune Main Street will be hosting a unique fashion show featuring local models, musicians and fashion items from some of the city’s eclectic boutiques.
The event has been dubbed Main Street Fashion Frenzy and will be held in place of the organization’s August general meeting, Picayune Main Street Director Reba Beebe said.
“We are raising funds to help pay for five new benches to be placed in the downtown area,” Beebe said.
Main Street has already purchased 28 benches. Three new seating areas will be placed on West Canal and two on East Canal, she said.
The fashion event will showcase wares local businesses have to offer, Beebe said.
“It’s a way for us to work together, support and promote each other,” she said. “All of the items modeled are available at the shops.”
Participating merchants include Bre’s Clothing and Accessories, Bubbles & Bliss, Occasions by Lisa, Lady Bugs, Dancewear Connection, Bonnie Blues Boutique, Crystal Gallery, Infused, Gibson’s Antiques, Bella Skin, MeLinda’s Gifts, Larry’s Cleaners, April’s, Barze´Antiques, Glass Porch and MacKenzie Holmes.
There will be a variety of fashion accessories and clothing featured, including jewelry, scarves, purses, shoes, pajamas, monogramming, athletic clothing and children’s clothing, Beebe said.
Local residents will serve as models, she said. They are Sandra Barker, Loretta Ford, Beth Lenior, Kayla Breland, Ashton Whitfield, Brittney Hearn, Amanda Farmer, Alyssa Pinero, Tonya Cialona, Molly Stover, Cailey Fleming, Sophia Foulon, Brooks Boyte, Branson Cruz Murphy, Lainey Schmidt, Paisley Black, Jillian Nicholson, Dr. D.L. Bolton, Bill Stegall, Jonah Berry, Cody Breland, Jeremy Foulon and Keghan Jarrell.
Fashion Frenzy emcees are Buddy and Steve McDonald and Martha Ford.
There will also be special musical performances by Faith Hill and Dynamic Duo of Picayune and Moss Man. 2015’s Dancing With the Relay Stars Peoples’ Choice winners Kesha and Reggie Smith will also perform. Band of Brothers will perform at 8:30 p.m.
Fashion Frenzy will be held at Southern Char Steakhouse, located at 210 W. Canal St., on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $30 and will also include dinner. Prime rib, boiled shrimp, green bean poppers and bread pudding will be served.
Beebe said there are about 30 tickets left and they can be purchased at Bre’s Clothing and Accessories, located at 113 W. Canal St.
“We would like to encourage everyone to come support our local merchants, have a good time and fellowship,” Beebe said.
