Surround youself with support during times of grief

There are few certainties in this life. There’s a popular quote attributed to Benjamin Franklin that I’m sure you have heard before, “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”
No matter what path we take in life, it is certain that everyone will pass away.
Some are taken from this world too soon, with barely a chance to experience life’s joys.
However, the family and friends left behind are faced with the painful task of living out the rest of their lives without their child, spouse or friend.
There are many stages of grief and many people lean on the support of their family to carry them through tough times.
But for some, there is no such support system.
However, in Pearl River County, there is a group that meets once a month to offer support.
The Bereavement Support Group meets the third Tuesday of each month in the private dining room at Highland Community Hospital from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
According to previous Item coverage, the group is sponsored by Forrest General Home Care and Hospice, which has a location in Picayune.
The meetings are free to attend and everything is kept confidential, group facilitator Libby Carroll said in previous coverage.
The Item commends Forrest General Home Care and Hospice for offering these services to grieving residents.
Losing a loved one is never easy and it’s important to know that people care and are willing to listen to your thoughts and feelings.
We recommend taking advantage of this service if you are dealing with the death of a loved one. It’s important to surround yourself with people who care and who know what it’s like.
Some people prefer to grieve in private and that’s fine, it’s their preference.
However, if you find yourself in need of some comfort, the Bereavement Support Group is a great place to start.
There is a meeting today. For more information contact Carroll at 601-288-2505.
