Charlie Burton passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the age of 98. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church of Alabaster, Alabama. Charlie served in the United States Marine Corps from 1936 to his retirement on December 31, 1955. Following his retirement, he worked for the Florida Department of Corrections.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Burton, son, Charles “Eddie”.

He is survived by his son Bobby (Scottie), his daughter-in-law, Molly, sister-in-law, Joyce, his grandchildren, Ched, Chris, and Brian Burton, and great grandchildren, Jay, Alex, Lindsey, Gray, and Parker Burton, and a host of nieces and nephews. Much of Charlie’s life with his wife Ruth was spent in Avon Park, Florida where he was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Avon Park, The Lions Club and Mason’s.

Visitation will be held at Charter Funeral Home, Tuesday, July 7th at 11:30 a.m. with the services following at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in Alabama National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
