Paul Joseph Vogel, age 58, went to be with Jesus on June 6, 2015 at his home in Carriere, MS.

Paul was born on June 13, 1956 in New Orleans, LA and has been a resident of Carriere, MS since 2004. He was a graduate of the University of New Orleans. He was a former boy scout troop leader for Pack 347, Den 1 in Slidell, LA. Paul was a member of Byrd’s Chapel United Methodist Church; where he was part of the praise and worship band, SongByrds.  He was active in Crusillo. Paul was an avid disk golf player and a member of the NO Team.  He was a master painter and owner of Paul’s Walls. He loved LSU and the New Orleans Saints; Paul also enjoyed camping, skiing, sailing, answering all the questions on Jeopardy, spending time with his family, singing around a bonfire, writing music, and playing the guitar. He had a wonderful way of telling stories and an awesome witty since of humor.

Paul was preceded in death by his mother, June Langla Vogel; his birth father, Paul Joseph Thiberville II; his maternal grandparents, Jules & Cora Langla; his paternal grandparents, Martin & Wilma Vogel; his Uncle Edward Langla and Uncle Richard Langla; and cousin James Mitchell.

Paul is survived by his wife, Tracy Ballard- Vogel, formally of Gulfport, MS; his former wife and mother of his children, Michelle Vogel; his son, Ryan Paul Vogel (Samantha Ott); his daughter, Emily June Vogel; his stepson, Kyle Ballard-Cloyd; his stepdaughter, Mattie Ballard- Millet; his sisters, Robin Vogel Husband (Joey) and Pamela Vogel; his father, Dr. Kenneth Vogel (Debi); many other loving relatives, aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as many friends. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, June 11th, 2015, at Byrd’s Chapel Church, 26 Byrd’s Chapel Road, Carriere, MS at 5:00 p.m., with visitation 30 minutes prior to service. A time of food and fellowship for family and friends will be held following the service. A graveside service and burial will be held at a later date at Lake Lawn Cemetery, New Orleans, La. Services officiated by Rev. Larry Pickering.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Paul Vogel Memorial Building/Music fund at Byrd’s Chapel Church or to the Paul Vogel Benefit Fund at Hancock Bank, MS (Whitney in LA).
