Thursday, a local woman was charged with possession of a stolen car and crystal methamphetamine.

On June 18 at 8:14 a.m., a man flagged down Picayune Police officers patrolling the area near Jackson Landing Road. The man told officers he found a red Oldsmobile parked in his backyard and covered with a tarp. Investigation into the matter discovered the vehicle was reported stolen from Pearl River, La., Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.

Officers arrived at the complainant’s residence on Jackson Landing Road and spoke with the complainant’s daughter and son-in-law, Magri said.

They told officers it was their understanding the car belonged to 38-year-old Nancy Bond of 339 Rosin Rd. They said Bond arrived at the residence overnight and asked the two if she could stay the night because she was having car trouble. The complainant was unaware of the agreement, Magri said.

When officers entered the residence, they observed the car parked in the backyard and Bond inside one of the bedrooms attempting to crawl underneath a bed, Magri said.

When officers looked underneath the bed, they found a black bag containing several used syringes and a large plastic bag filled with a white crystallized substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine, Magri said.

Officers also found two packs of cigarettes inside the black bag. One of the packs contained a white crystallized substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine, Magri said.

Bond was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of stolen property, Magri said.
