The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department is searching for 44-year-old Stephen Miller, address unknown, who is wanted in connection with a residential burglary.
On May 23, three air conditioners and some tools were stolen from a home located on the 7000 block of Hwy. 43 N., Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said.
An investigation into the complaint led investigators to Miller, Tucker said. He was identified as the person selling the property allegedly taken during the burglaries, Tucker said.
“He has been known to frequent areas from the Mississippi Gulf Coast to Bogalusa, Louisiana,” Tucker said. “Thursday night, we received information from the Bogalusa Police Department about a vehicle fitting the description of Miller’s. They attempted to stop the car, but the driver fled into Mississippi down Hwy. 26.”
The suspect drove through a densely wooded area along the river, where the car got stuck and he fled on foot, Tucker said.
For several hours, officials with law enforcement agencies from Mississippi and Louisiana searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect, Tucker said.
Miller is listed as a missing person from Slidell, Louisiana, Tucker said.
He is 6 feet tall, weighs about 180 pounds and has tattoos on his chest and arms, Tucker said.
Anyone with any information about Miller’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department at 601-798-5528 or 601-795-2241.
