Through a cooperative venture with the Biloxi Police Department, officials with the Picayune Police Department were able to identify the female suspect wanted for numerous counts of credit card fraud in Picayune.
Twenty-one-year-old Skyler Waits, address unknown, was identified after her name, partial birthday and previous booking photos were obtained through further investigation, Picayune Police Department Assistant Chief Jeremy Magri said.
Officers compared Waits’ most recent booking photograph to surveillance footage and positively identified her as the suspect, Magri said.
Waits is also wanted in Georgia and Texas for similar crimes, Magri said.
In previous Item coverage, between April 14 and 15, several instances of credit card fraud occurred at several local businesses including Rite Aid, Home Depot, Winn Dixie, Walgreens and Dollar General, Magri said in the previous story.
Waits used numerous victims’ credit card numbers to purchase gift cards, Magri said in previous coverage. The victims are still in physical possession of their cards. There has been no confirmation regarding how she obtains their numbers but so far there she has been able to make about $2,700 in known fraudulent credit charges, Magri said in the previous article.
In another matter, law enforcement officers are still looking for a male suspect wanted in connection with shoplifting, Magri said.
In previous Item coverage, Magri said that between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. on March 26 and April 4, the suspect entered Walmart and manipulated boxes of Chromecast Internet access cards, which were then transferred to his pocket. The stolen items have a total value of about $525.
The suspect is described as a male who wears large frame glasses that are solid white on the bottom and solid black on the top, Magri said in previous coverage. He appeared to be wearing khaki dress pants, dress shoes, a sport coat and in one picture a baseball cap.
“We have received no tips as of yet and ask that people take a look at his picture once again,” Magri said. “It doesn’t appear that he is from this area. He is still at large and we are asking the public for any help regarding his identity.”
If anyone has information regarding Waits or the male suspect, they are asked to contact the Picayune Police Department at 601-798-7411 or the Criminal Investigations Division at 601-798-0374.
