Thursday, the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Mississippi Department of Corrections, arrested numerous suspects on drug related charges.
The operation was the result of a year-long investigation into alleged drug activity throughout the county, Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Sheriff David Allison said.
“I would like to thank the citizens for the arrests that we made. We were able to find out about the drug activities occurring in the county because of the community complaints we received,” Allison said.
When the departments set out Thursday morning they had a list of suspects across the county who had warrants for drug related charges, Allison said.
During one of the arrests, several officers arrived at 3363 Jackson Landing Road to arrest two suspects, a male and a female. At that time, there was a child inside the residence. Officers waited until the child was placed into the custody of a family member before arresting the female suspect, Allison said.
“I want to let the community know that we’re not going to stop worrying about the drug problem. The drugs are destroying the lives of so many family members in the community,” Allison said.
The list of suspects arrested and still at large was unavailable at press time. This story will be updated once those names are released.
