Funeral services for Reverend Harvey Graham, 64, of Poplarville (Hart’s Chapel Community), who passed away on April 20, 2015 will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Hart’s Chapel Baptist Church. Pastor George Tillman will officiate at the service.
Harvey was born on February 1, 1951 to the late Charlie Rhodes and Mary Graham Hart. He was educated at Todd Memorial School System in Poplarville, MS and Bogalusa Extension Seminary College of Theology. He was reared by his grandmother, Ruby Mae Graham in the Hart’s Chapel Community, until her passing. He was then cared for by his aunt and uncle, Alice Anderson and R. J. Rhodes.
A lifelong member of Hart’s Chapel Community, Reverend Graham was nurtured and baptized at Hart’s Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend J. W. Porter. He later received and accepted his calling into the ministry and was ordained into the Ministry at Hart’s Chapel Baptist Church. He served as Pastor of Hart’s Chapel Baptist Church for about 7 years. He was the proud Pastor of First Baptist Church, Kiln, MS for over 17 years until his passing.
Reverend Graham was united in holy matrimony to Janice M. Calhoun on July 22, 1977. He was self-employed as a Construction Contractor. .
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Rhodes, Worder Hart, Sr. and Mary Graham Hart; grandmother, Ruby Mae Graham; two brothers, Samuel Graham and James H. Hart.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Janice M. Graham; six children, Latania (Alex) Grant, of Poplarville, Elder Louis L. (Steffani) Graham, of Poplarville; Minister Adam D. (LeAnna) Calhoun, of Hattiesburg, Alonzo Lamont Graham, of Picayune, Harvey (Rachel) Calhoun, of Lumberton; and Ruby K.(Kenneth) Graham, of Picayune; eleven siblings, Minister Virgie Bolton, Ruby (Jerry) Jenkins, Palmer Bates, of Picayune, Worder (Linda) Hart, Jr., of Dallas, TX, Clara (Gary) Williams, of Anniston, AL, Linda (Steve) Hawthorne, Karen Badon, of Picayune, Felix Hart, of Lumberton, Annette Davis, Pastor Donald (Wornett) Hart, of Picayune, and H. B. Rhodes, of Poplarville; four God-children, Bobbie Anderson-Alston, Anner Peters, Nicholas Curry, and Alexis Hill; 20 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home Chapel and Friday, April 24, 2015 from 12 Noon until service time at the church. Interment will be in Hart’s Chapel Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown’s Funeral Home.
