Spring is here and Picayune Main Street has been busy filling the weekends with family-oriented events.
This weekend is no different.
Main Street will be hosting Rockin’ & Grillin Palooza in downtown Picayune.
Families with young children have the opportunity to begin their day with a Relay for Life Disney character breakfast at Applebee’s from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Once breakfast has settled, families can head down to the BCA state sanctioned barbeque competition, which begins at 11 a.m.
Classic car lovers can enjoy the Boulevard Cruisers of Picayune Classic Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will also be a cornhole tournament at 10:30 a.m.
Live entertainment will be featured at the stage on West Canal Street, which includes Camryn Kinchens, Alex Ramsey, Makenzie Crawford, Rock Candy and Runaway Train.
City officials and Picayune Main Street appear to be committed to providing events that celebrate not only the city’s rich history but also family friendly entertainment.
We also commend Picayune’s law enforcement for being committed to ensuring the safety of festival attendees.
It’s reassuring to know that we can walk the streets of Picayune without worry.
And lastly, the residents enrich the events.
One of the true measures of a successful event is the laughter and smiles on the faces of children and adults.
Living in a quaint small town like Picayune, provides residents with a network of friends and family that support and care for each other.
By attending these festivals, people also support their local businesses, which in turn benefits the entire community.
Keep up the good work, Picayune Main Street.
