Lady Maroon Tide defeat Stone in final regular season home game

Tuesday night the Picayune Lady Maroon Tide defeated Stone County 7-6 in their final regular season home game.
The Maroon Tide also celebrated Senior Night on Tuesday with the team’s only two seniors second baseman Anna Breeland and outfielder Allie Samples.
Elizabeth Taggard replaced Megan Dudenhefer on the mound in the second inning. Taggard went on to pitch a solid game, striking out a total of four Tomcat batters.
Left-fielder Sarah Walker had a homer in the sixth, which brought the Tide to within one run of the Tomcats.
Stone went up in the game early with the score at 4-0 by the bottom of the second inning, however after the pitching change in the second the Tide seemed to regain their footing.
Samples, along with first baseman Rylee Dawsey, each singled early in the third, and scored the first two runs of the game for the Tide bringing the score to 4-2.
Walker and shortstop Marissa McDonald and each scored a run in the fourth to tie the game.
At the top of the sixth, Stone scored two runs putting them ahead by two, but Walker’s homer early in the bottom of the sixth brought the Tide to within one run.
Going into the bottom of the 7th, Dawsey led off for the Tide with a single. Catcher Alyssa Pinero immediately followed with her own single, putting runners on first and second. Dudenhefer doubled to end the game and give the Lady Tide the victory.
