Funeral services will be held May 2, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in New Hebron Baptist Church for Mr. James “Teddy” Nixon age 91 of Carriere, Miss. who died April 27, 2015 in Picayune, MS. The Rev Martin K. Thomas will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Carriere Community Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.

A native of Carriere, Miss. he was a retired foreman of Northfort Southern Railroad Co. and Southern Railroad. He was a member of the New Hebron Baptist Church, a deacon, member of the Brotherhood, choir president, sung with the District Male Chorus and president of Springhill Triumph 5th Sunday Singing.

Mr. Nixon was well known in his community. He served his community with vegetables that he grew in his garden and served as the community taxi. There was nothing Mr. Nixon wouldn’t do for his community.

Mr. Nixon leaves to cherish his memories: 3 sons: Larry Nixon, Roger “Roy” (LaJuanna) Nixon, both of Kansas City, Kansas, and Perry (Charotte) Nixon of Carriere, MS., 4 daughters: Julia Ellis, Jane (Larry) Tatum, Coranella (Jerry) Frazier, and Alfreda (Rodrick) Deflander all of Carriere, 1 sister: Fannie Lee (Frank) Pickett of Chicago, IL, 19 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.

Precede in death by: wife: Gladys Nixon, 2 sons: Steve Nixon, and Dewayne Nixon, 1 daughter: Alfreta Nixon, 2 grandchildren, 7 sisters, and 8 brothers.
