Award-winning comedian, Mutzie, is coming back to Union Baptist Church in the Caesar community to perform his routine on Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m.

“Last year, everyone enjoyed his show, so we wanted him to come back again this year,” Pastor Brian Tatum said.

The church discovered Mutzie’s comedic chops after several church members saw his show on a Carnival Cruise ship a few years back, Tatum said.

“Last year, we reached out to him since he’s been trying to do more outreach work with churches,” Tatum said. “His comedy act focuses on how God changed his life but it also centers on life in general.”

During the show, Tatum said the comedian tries to make his routine as interactive as possible.

“He brings down the house lights, and as part of his routine, he uses a flashlight to select guests to come up on the stage with him,” Tatum said.

While the show’s admission is free, the church will be accepting love offerings.

“This show is a great opportunity for us to reach out to the community and get people here who might not usually come to church on Sunday mornings,” Tatum said.

For more information on the show or to find directions to the church, call Union Baptist Church at (601) 798-6470. The church is located at 1628 West Union Rd.

The comedian has appeared on BET’s “Comic View,” and was named New Orleans Entertainer of the Year twice, Mutzie’s Agent Lee Porter said.
