An active senior lifestyle provides health benefits

Studies have shown that hobbies are an important aspect for promoting healthier lifestyles for senior citizens.
According to an article on more.com, leisure activities give seniors a reason to get out and share with others. Physical activities can promote brain activity, which can delay or prevent dementia.
The senior citizens of Pearl River County are in luck, because there is a fun-filled place where all these activities can be found.
The Senior Center of South Pearl River County in Picayune offers a wide variety of classes, special presentations, games and so much more.
Every month, the calendar is filled with daily activities, which include, line dancing, senior fitness, Spanish class, painting, karaoke, craft class, quilting and bingo.
During the month of March, representatives will be available to aid with in filing of income taxes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In the past, the center hosted seminars regarding Medicare and other matters pertinent to today’s seniors.
The staff at the senior center are always eager to lend a helping hand and possess a genuine joy and affection for their seniors.
It’s important for seniors to leave their homes and socialize with others. Too often, growing older can leave one isolated and lonely.
On any given day, one can walk into the senior center and witness the joy and camaraderie of active seniors enjoying the company of each other.
