Funeral Services for Alice Joyce Bourgeois Carmichael, age 90, who passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015, at 11:30 am at McDonald Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am at McDonald Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Father Joseph Trinh will officiate the services.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charles Jackson Carmichael; her son, Randolph Carmichael and wife Colleen; her three daughters, Pamela Holt, Stephanie Russo, and Helene Blanchet and husband Charles; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her brother, Leroy Bourgeois and wife Gloria; and 3 nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hyacinth Leon Bourgeois and Alice Gilbeau Bourgeois; and her son, John Keith Carmichael.
A native of Scott, LA, she attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute of Liberal and Technical Learning of Lafayette (ULL) graduation with a degree in Home Economics in 1944. After getting married, Joyce and Jack settled down in New Orleans and raised their family. Retiring, they moved to Picayune, MS, where she stayed active in garden clubs, Busy Bees and Newcomers, plus volunteering at Crosby Memorial Hospital as a Pink Lady.  Joyce was a faithful member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, but also attended Roseland Park Baptist Church regularly with her husband.  She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.  Her loving and giving spirit could always be seen through her beautiful smile and kindness. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all that knew her.
