In preparation for Valentine’s Day, people visit their local florists, jewelers and gift shops to select a romantic gift for that special someone in their lives. While the holiday is already here, some people will spend the day running around town trying to find the perfect last-minute gift.

“We normally get a lot of last-minute people right on Valentine’s Day,” Landrum’s Florist owner Joe Landrum said.

Ever since Landrum opened his flower shop 70 years ago he has found Valentine’s Day to be the busiest holiday.

“Last year we sold thousands of roses. We haven’t had a year yet where we haven’t sold out,” he said.

Last-minute shoppers interested in buying flowers for their loved one can purchase a dozen roses, mixed flower arrangements, which include roses, lilies, carnations and daisies, and silk red and white flower arrangements at the shop.

Landrum said patrons can walk-in and select a pre-made arrangement or call 601-798-5485 to inquire about prices and order an arrangement for delivery.

Across town, West Canal Florist is also seeing plenty of business.

“It’s been really busy here, we haven’t stopped for days,” employee Gabe Smith said. “This is our busiest time of the year.”

The shop is offering a variety of Valentine’s Day flower arrangements, including the Hearts of Love, which is a bouquet with red and white roses placed inside a red heart-shaped vase and the Sweetheart Bouquet, which has red roses placed inside a clear vase.

For more information on ordering and delivery options, visit the shop’s website at www. westcanalflorist.com.
