Two men have been charged with their alleged involvement in a residential burglary in Carriere.
An investigation identified two men as Paul Dwiggins Jr., 18, of 28 South Fork Drive in Carriere and Jovan Detto, 18, of 24 Albert Jarrell Road in Carriere, Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said.
The suspects were burglarizing the home on Jan. 3, which is located on South Fork Drive in Carriere, while there was no one inside the residence, Tucker said.
The victim arrived home to see the suspects still inside through her bedroom window. Once they noticed her, they fled towards the back of the house. The homeowner allegedly ran around to the back of the house and called out to them. According to the homeowner, the suspects stopped and gave her back the $120 they stole from her residence, Tucker said.
When the homeowner called the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department, Detto allegedly left the scene before deputies arrived at the residence, Tucker said.
Once patrols arrived that night, Dwiggins was arrested, and deputies also recovered a stolen ring, which belonged to the victim.
Through further investigation, Detective Scott Maillet from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department was able to locate and arrest Detto on Jan. 4. Maillet was also able to recover two stolen collector coins and two rings from Detto, which belonged to the victim.
Tucker said Dwiggins and Detto broke out a window, in order to gain entry to the home, which was located at the back of the house.
Both men were charged with residential burglary. Their bonds were set to $7,000 a piece, and they have since made bond, Tucker said.
