County, city offices closed until Monday

Due to New Year’s Day, many county and city offices as well as local stores will have a change of schedule for the rest of the week.
Here’s the schedule that can be expected for Pearl River County and the municipalities of Poplarville and Picayune:
In Picayune, City Hall offices will be closed today, Jan. 1 and Friday, Jan. 2. Regular activities will resume on Monday, Jan. 5.
Also, residential trash pick-up days will change for Picayune residents. Trash that is normally collected today, Jan. 1, will be picked up on Friday, Jan. 2. Trash that is normally collected on Friday, Jan. 2 will be picked up on Saturday, Jan. 3. Trash collection will resume normal schedules the week of Jan. 5.
In Poplarville, City Hall offices will be closed today, Jan. 1 and Friday, Jan. 2.
Poplarville trash pick-up is also expected to change slightly. Poplarville residents who are usually serviced on Friday, Jan 2. will be serviced on Saturday, Jan. 3 instead.
In Pearl River County, all county offices will be closed on today, Jan. 1 and Friday Jan. 2. Offices will resume normal hours on Monday, Jan. 5 at 8 a.m. The first Pearl River Board of Supervisors meeting of the year is expected to begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5.
All local grocery stores in the Picayune area, including Wal-Mart, Winn- Dixie, and Claiborne Hill will be open during their normal business hours.
Local pharmacies, however, will have a slight change of hours. Walgreens store hours will remain normal, but the pharmacy will close early today, Jan. 1 at 5 p.m. CVS store hours will remain normal as well, but the pharmacy will be open today, Jan. 1 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wal-Mart’s pharmacy hours today, Jan. 1 will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pharmacy hours for all the stores mentioned previously will resume normal hours on Friday, Jan. 2.
