This weekend will be one of the last opportunities to find the perfect gift.
The Poplarville Area Chamber of Commerce would like the public to participate in a special event this Saturday.
According to Chamber board member Maggie Smith, local Poplarville shop owners will extend their business hours and offer shopping specials throughout the day.
Smith said shopping local is important.
“We want to promote shopping at home, especially in a small town,” Smith said. “It’s our goal to further Poplarville’s growth and prosperity.”
The businesses that will be open on Saturday include Apple’s LTD, Adam’s Signs, Nature’s Path, Barbara’s Art Etc., Boone’s Pharmacy, Crossfit, Diamonds and Dirt Shoe Boutique Inc., East Poplarville Clinic, El Mariachi, Fabulous You Inc., Long Leaf Farm and Garden, Greer’s CashSaver, Hall’s Service Station, Jessie Rae’s Baby Bottoms Boutique, Kloze Kloset II, Knight’s Ace Hardware, Lily’s Boutique and Consignment Shop LLC, McDonald’s, Miller’s Nursery, Mistfits and Alter Ego, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Pearson’s Barber Shop, Penton Jewelry, Perry’s Seafood, Poplarville Camper Sales, Poplarville Grocery Company, Poplarville Floral, Ramey’s, Radio Shack, Sargent’s, Stonewall’s, The Coffee Shop, The Other Side, Transitions Day Spa, Tropical Body Bliss, Ward’s, Way Out West and Way Out West Grill.
There will be another final chamber sponsored holiday event on Friday evening, Smith said.
Danny O’Flaherty will perform a Celtic Christmas at the Dixon Theatre on Friday Dec. 19 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Smith said there are still plenty of tickets available for this event.
According to Smith, O’Flaherty is a former New Orleans resident and owned the now defunct Irish Channel Pub. He currently resides in Texas, but returns to the area to perform.
Tickets to a Celtic Christmas cost $20 and can be purchased by calling the chamber office at 601-795-0578.
