Beginning today, the office for Picayune’s Municipal Court will be located at the Picayune Police Department at 328 S. Main St.
The municipal court clerk’s office was formerly located inside City Hall on Goodyear Boulevard.
Municipal Clerk Lisa Albritton said her department received a number of complaints regarding the location of the court’s office.
“People would come to our offices at City Hall and we would tell them that they needed records,” Albrittion. “They have to drive to the police department, come back to our offices and at times, drive back to the police department for court.”
Albrittion said having records separated from the court office created more confusion.
“Moving our offices will make things more convenient for our citizens,” Albritton said. “We, along with Picayune’s law enforcement officials, will work together to get things done more efficiently.”
