Funeral Services for Audeline Harmon Smith, age 83 of Picayune, MS, who passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014, will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 19, 2014 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune.
Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Dr. Keith Warden will officiate the service.
Born in Lumberton, MS, and a resident of Picayune for 74 years, she was a Retired Secretary for the Picayune School District. Audie was a member of First Baptist Church of Picayune, where she taught 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School for 63 years. She also was a member of the Sanctuary Choir for 69 years. Audie was the last active founding member of the Civic Woman’s Club of Picayune, having held every office and chairmanship in her 55 year membership. She was a member of Mississippi Federation of Women’s Clubs Executive Board, serving as Chaplain from 2008 until 2010. Audie taught her family how to love the Lord, and follow Him in everything. She instilled in her children a passion to serve others through volunteer service in the church and community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.R. “Bob” Harmon and Alice O’Flynn Harmon; her husband of 53 years, Emmett M. Smith; her son, E. Harvey Smith; and her sisters and brothers, Thelma Lewis, Otto Harmon, Earlton Harmon, Billie Harmon, Dorothy Mitchell, and Jo Ann Newman.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Smith Griffin and husband Ronnie; her daughter-in-law, Sheila Walker Smith; her granddaughters, Ashley Ferrell Stockstill and husband Cayne, and Emily Ferrell Polk; her 4 great grandchildren, Jacob Harrison Stockstill, Anderson Emmett Polk, Reese Michael Polk, and Chloe Layne Stockstill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
