Two people were injured Saturday night in a head-on collision on Hwy. 43 S. near Salem Road.
The accident occurred at around 8:07 p.m., Cpl. Benjamin Seibert with the Mississippi Highway Patrol said.
Forty-two-year-old Kenneth Williams of Pearl River, La. was driving a 1999 Chevy Silverado northbound on Hwy. 43 when he was struck head-on by a 2003 Ford Mustang, Seibert said.
“The driver of the Mustang was 27-year-old Shawn Murphy of Waveland,” Seibert said. “Murphy crossed the center line and struck Williams head-on.”
Williams was taken to Slidell Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries, Seibert said, and Murphy was taken to Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg with severe injuries.
The cause of the accident and whether drugs or alcohol were a factor is still under investigation, Seibert said.
