Fourth annual South Mississippi archery expo this weekend

It is never too early to start shooting and getting ready for the 2014-15 archery deer season.

With all the changes in the harvest regulations and seasons this year it is going to be imperative you get a copy of the free Outdoor Digest published by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks.

The Digest is your one stop shop for information and remember, ignorance of the law is no excuse.

To help rid buck fever and work on making that shot count, there is no better way than getting together and have a 3-D pop up competition.

This weekend I have the perfect place for you if you are an avid outdoorsman or woman, the South MS Archery Expo in Poplarville at the Pearl River County Fairgrounds.

The expo will be held Friday night from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the shoot-off and awards and prizes to be given away following.

There will be a men’s, women’s and youth (under 16) division to ensure everyone can have a great time.

Traditional and compound shooters are welcome and will shoot in their respective divisions as well.

This is an automated 3-D pop up target shooting competition and is unlike anything you have ever experienced.

First prize for the women is a Bowtech Diamond Infinite Edge compound bow. The men’s first prize is a Matthews Creed XS.

Many door prizes to be given away and food available all day.

Shoot as many rounds as you want for $10 per round, highest score counts towards the shoot-off.

The Expo is hosted by the United Sportsmen for Christ (USC) and is sponsored by Leaf River Outdoors.
