Funeral Services for Daris Plaxton Whitfield Sr., 75, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014, will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Picayune Church of God.

Visitation will be Friday, August 15, 2014 from 6-10 p.m. at Picayune Church of God.

Burial will be in Sycamore Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

Rev. John Blaine will officiate the service.

A native of Picayune, Miss., he was a member of Picayune Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Britt Whitfield and Violet Lloyd Whitfield; his sons, Daris Plaxton Whitfield Jr. and Philip Ray Whitfield; his brothers, Sam Whitfield, Ted Whitfield, and Johnny Whitfield; and his sister, Marie Cuevas.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Hattie Voncile Mills Whitfield; his children, Brenda Kay Emmons and husband Tim, William Auston Whitfield, Roxie Ann Berryman and husband Rodney; his 4 grandchildren, Plaxton, Auston, Bethany, and Allison; his great granddaughter, Dazy Kay; and his sisters and brothers, Valarie Seal, Earl Whitfield, Dale Whitfield and his wife Ray, and Gail Bryant and her husband C.J.
