One driver was killed and another injured due to a head-on collision that occurred Tuesday on Ceasar Road.
At 4:55 p.m., a white Dodge Ram and purple GMC Sierra collided in the 900 block of Ceasar Road, Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Detective Sergeant Lance Spiers said.
“Both subjects were thrown from their vehicles,” Spiers said.
The driver of the Dodge Ram succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, Spiers said.
Spiers said there was one witness at the scene.
Spears said the witness told emergency personnel that as she was traveling southbound on Ceasar Road, a northbound GMC Sierra swerved into her lane forcing her to leave the road.
She then saw the Sierra collide head-on with the Dodge Ram following behind her, Spiers said.
The name of the deceased driver is 18-year-old Jacob Moeller, who was driving the Dodge, Pearl River County Coroner Derek Turnage said.
“Moeller sustained multiple traumatic injuries,” Turnage said. Moeller was airlifted to the Forrest General Hospital where he passed away from multiple systems trauma, Turnage said.
Spiers said that the other driver was transferred to Forrest General and that he is unsure of the extent of his injuries.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation at this time, Spiers said.
As with all accidents involving fatalities, blood tests are under way to determine if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor, Spiers said.
