Rev. Alex Luke Holloway Jr. was born February 24, 1933, to the late Alex Luke Holloway Sr. and Nellie Hide Holloway of Bassfield, Miss.  On July 18, 2014 at 12:05 a.m. the Angel of peace came down to give him his final rest.  He was 81 years of age.

Early Life:  Rev. Alex Luke Holloway Jr. joined the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Bassfield, MS. under the leadership of Rev. W. L. Lumzy.  Rev. Holloway was joined in holy matrimony on January 5, 1956 to Ms. Dorothy Jean Adams.  To this union five (5) children were born.  Later in life he moved to McNeil, MS.  He joined the Little Zion Travelers Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. W. Parker where he served as a Deacon for many years, until he accepted his calling.  He later became the pastor of Little Zion Travelers Baptist Church and served as Pastor for 40 years.  He also served as Pastor at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Young, MS. for seventeen years.  After he became Pastor, he joined the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Cybur, MS. under the leadership of Rev. B.B. Wilson.  Rev. Holloway was a devoted husband, father, and Pastor.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Alex Luke Sr. and Nellie Applewhite; his siblings: Percy, Annie, Rufus, Dorsey, Cleveland, OZ, R.J., Lucille, Gilbert, Tommy, Arnice, Easter Mae, Jessie Lou, Viola, Lizzie, Sam, Stella, Eddie, Ruth, Joseph, Leslie, and Arnell.  One daughter: Jackie Hawkins.

He leaves to cherish many life-long memories: His loving wife of 56 years, Ms. Dorothy Jean Adams Holloway; Six (6) children: Sons, Cleveland (Theresa) Holloway of Nour Ain Colorado, Dale Holloway of McNeil; Daughters, Rev. Georgia Antoine, Dinah (David) Henry of McNeil, Audroy Faye (Timothy) McGown, and Catha (Robert) Cash of Picayune.  Thirteen (13) grand-children, Two (2) Great-Grand children, Three (3) Brother in-laws, Seven (7) Sister-in-laws, Two (2) God-daughters: Lena Bowens and Cecelia Hargett; Two (2) Special friends: Rev. Howard Stewart and Mr. Robert “Mose” Burton of Picayune, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and  many, many, friends.

Funeral Services for Rev. Alex Luke Holloway Jr. will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 visitation from 12-1 p.m. services beginning at 1:00 pm at the Harts Chapel Baptist Church in Derby. The Rev. George R. Tillman Pastor and the Rev. Kenneth Martin Thomas Jr., Pastor of New Hebron Baptist Church, Carriere will be officiating. Interment will be at the McNeil Cemetery.  The repast will be held at New Hebron Baptist Church, Carriere following the interment. 601-798-9186
