The following is a statement from Coast Electric Power Association concerning a scam their customers have reported.

“Coast Electric members are reporting calls from scam artists. The scammers are demanding payment, or threatening disconnection. Most have said the scam artists have stated a meter change is the reason that payment is necessary. Those who have reported the calls say they are coming from 888-615-0475. Coast Electric is not charging for new meters and will not demand that members pay in a certain manner or only over the phone. Anyone receiving a call like this should hang up and call Coast Electric at 877-769-2372 to report the incident. They should also call local authorities.”
