On the local and state front we have a Republican primary election next Tuesday, June 3rd.  State Senator Chris McDaniel is the challenger with heavy Tea Party support and touting it is time for a change in Washington.  Thad Cochran is a long time Senator from Mississippi who wields considerable power in Washington through committee appointments and funding allocations. The campaign has turned quite negative and this article will not spend time discussing the dirt. Incumbent Congressman Palazzo is being challenged by Gene Taylor.  Congressman Palazzo has risen quickly in the ranks in Congress with appointments to several important committees.  Mr. Taylor served many years in the U.S. Congress as a member of the Democratic Party before losing in the last election to Congressman Palazzo.  Congressman Palazzo is also being challenged by Tavish Kelly and Tom Carter. Please thoroughly research the candidates and exercise your right to vote. A silent voice cannot be heard.  Many people have sacrificed their lives for us to have the right to vote and preserve our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Please do not waste this right!

Voter ID has begun with this election, if you do not have a valid ID please call the Secretary of State’s office for alternatives at 1-844-MSVOTER. Every person who is eligible to vote should have no problem exercising their right to vote in this election. The Secretary of State’s office is offering transportation for those who do not have a ride to get a voter ID card.

On the national level Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, played host on Tuesday night to more than a dozen well connected New Hampshire politicos. It is believed Governor Perry will again attempt a run for the White House in 2016. Governor Perry is being supported by Henry Barbour, brother of previous Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour. (Politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com) Governor Perry has been a very popular Governor of Texas with conservative views and busy friendly agenda. The Iowa Caucus will be held on January 5, 2016 which kicks of the vetting of candidates for the GOP nomination. (2016Iowacaucus.com).
