The field is now set for the Democratic Primary on June 3, 2014.  For the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Thad Cochran and the 4th Congressional District House of Representatives seat held by Steven Palazzo.

The candidate for Democratic Senate seat is Travis Childers, a lifelong Democrat from Booneville in northern Mississippi.  He was first elected Chancery Clerk in 1991 and served 5 terms.  He won the special election to fill the U.S. House District 1 seat formerly held by Roger Wicker who was appointed to the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Trent Lott.  Mr. Childers won re-election in 2008 defeating his Republican opponent 54-44%.  He was defeated in 2010 when challenged in the General Election candidates representing the Constitutional Party, Libertarian Party, Reform Party, Republican Party and an independent.  He is considered a “Blue Dog” Democrat because of his conservative views.  A successful Real Estate Broker, he is married with two children in college, and is a Southern Baptist.
