Funeral Services for Roger Lawrence Kennedy, 87, of Picayune, Miss., who passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, will be held Friday, May 9, 2014, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Picayune.

Visitation will be Friday, May 9, 2014, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery in Picayune under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.

The Rev. Bradley S. Aumann will officiate at the service.

A native of New Orleans, La., he was a Contractor and a member of the Catholic faith. Roger’s devotion and loyalty to his family was beyond measure. He loved unconditionally and without reservation. If there was a “need” in the family, he was there ready to help and offer encouragement.

Roger was a 1951 graduate of  Tulane University. Prior to his studies, he served in the military from April 1945 to December 1946. He worked in an Army hospital in Japan as a medical technician He was awarded a number of ribbons including the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon. He spent his life in the home building business. Roger enjoyed all sports, watching and discussing the games of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the Saints. He enjoyed and was very knowledgeable about the stars. Now he is one of them, one of the brightest.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, John A. Kennedy and Catherine Arthur Kennedy; his granddaughter, Katie Lynn Jones; and four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include: his wife of 66 years, Dorothy Hahn Kennedy; his children: Lawrence (Sue) Kennedy, Dale (Rosie) Kennedy, Karen (Sidney) Jones, Daniel (Marion) Kennedy; and Erin (David) Radle; ten grandchildren: Laura (Ken), Heather (Johnny), Emily, Matthew (Leslie), Joshua (Ashley), Jonathan (Emma), Joanna, Thomas, Sarah, and Katie Rose; six great-grandchildren: Hannah and Caleb, Kaden and Keegan, and Kylie and Luke; and his brother, Lester (Doris) Kennedy.
