Despite an outstanding play in the field by Picayune’s Tiffany Devore, William Carey couldn’t get enough production at the plate to prevent a loss in the NAIA softball World Series Monday night.

The Lady Crusaders managed just two hits as they fell to SSAC rival Auburn University Montgomery, 2-1 at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, Ga.

In the bottom of the first inning AUM recorded three straight one out singles however Devore, a freshman leftfielder, gunned down one Lady WarHawk at the plate.

Lauren Shaw smacked a two run home run with two out in the fourth for the game’s only runs.

With the loss WCU took on College of Idaho late Tuesday afternoon in an elimination game. If WCU won that game, the Lady Crusaders would meet Oklahoma City today at 3 P.m.
