Pearl River County Welcome Center celebrates National Travel and Tourism Week

The Pearl River Welcome Center will be celebrating National Travel and Toursim Week from May 3 through May 11.
Saturday, May 3, will feature music and local bands, along with staff from the MSU Extension, Crosby Arboretum.
Sunday, May 4, will feature the Gold Wing Riders. They will be speaking about motorcycle safety and awareness.
Monday, May 5, Ms. Mississippi Sr. America, Gladys Hughes and her daughter, Bonnie Hughes, will be greeting visitors.
Tuesday, May 6, local artist Candy Howard will be demonstrating her painting techniques and Nathan Killen will be providing accoustic entertainment for visitors.
Wenesday, May 7, the staff of Moore Chiropractic Services will be giving mini-massage throughout the day and local artist and blacksmith Larry House will be demonstrating his art and displaying some of his pieces.
Thursday, May 8 through Saturday, May 10, Jim Williams will be singing Karaoke.
Finally, the welcome center will celebrate Armed Forces Day on May 17.
This single day celebration was created to celebrate the joining of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense in August 1949.
Come join the ladies at the Welcome Center to celebrate this occasion. There will be a flag raising ceremony with local veterans Russell Foster and Frank Egger, Civil War cannon firing with Daryl Ladner (Sons of Confederate Veterans).
The activities begin at 10 a.m. followed by coffee and cookies.
