Lady Devils back in play

GAUTIER — Pearl River Central is bouncing back into district play on a bit of a high note.

The Lady Devils had lost three of their past four games, before knocking off homestanding Gautier here Wednesday 3-2 in game one of a doubleheader. The Lady Gators, though, bounced back to take game two 5-4. Both contests were five inning affairs.

Pearl River Central is 10-9 overall, and 2-0 in Region 6-5A play, as the Lady Devils head to Brookhaven today in a key league match-up.

Prior to the win Wednesday, the Lady Devils knocked of Bogalusa 17-0 Friday before dropping a pair of games in the West Harrison Tournament.

In the win over Bogalusa, Austin Pruitt and Ellyana Warren paced PRC at the plate. Pruitt registered two triples and drove in five runs, while Warren had three hits and drove in four runs. Gabbie Keller added a two run double, while Brooklyn Kirk, Hannah Rester, Autumn McNeely and Mallory Pervan each added an RBI apiece to the winning effort. McNeely had a pair of singles.

Taylor Harris picked up the win.

On Wednesday, Hailee Buras picked up the win in the first game, allowing just four hits. Austin Pruitt had a double and two singles and drove in three runs to pace PRC at the plate.

Taylor Harris took the loss in the second game, despite allowing just four hits and striking out six. Gabbie Keller had a double and drove in three runs, while Pruitt had a single and a double and drove in a run as well.
