Beloved husband, father and brother was carried to meet his father in heaven April 28, 2014. He was 63 years old.

Read was a life long resident of Picayune. He graduated from Picayune High in 1968, where he devoted his service to the community working in retail sales over 33 years. He was a loyal employee of Herring Ford and PawPaw Camper City for 28 years. He retired in 2012 due to health issues.

Read loved fishing, boating, reading, football, and NASCAR. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren. He spent 5 seasons of his younger years coaching his daughter’s softball teams. He was a good friend and inspiration in his personal life and in business. He will be sorely missed by all whom he touched.

Read was preceded in death by his parents: his father, Waddie Doolittle, Sr; his mother Esther (Schaller) Doolittle; two brothers: Larry and Michael Doolittle; one nephew, Brandon Doolittle.

He is survived by his wife, Claude Ann (Hebert) Doolittle of Diamondhead. His former wife, Judi (Breedlove) Doolittle and his three daughters: Niki (Baker) Wilson and husband Alan of Picayune. Leann

(Doolittle) Smith and husband Mark of Carriere. Lacy Doolittle of Picayune. Two step children, stepson Chris Bares and wife Cherly of Lafayette, La. Stepdaughter Michelle Bares of Lafayette, la. He has 6 grandchildren, Alli and Ashlyn Wilson; Kaden Smith (and fiancé, Nikki Penton), Kortney and Konner Read Smith; and Grayson Bares. Read has one sister, Pat (Doolittle) Beard of Picayune; two 1/2 brothers: Waddie Jr and Tim Doolittle. Two 1/2 sisters: Perry Ann and Anita. His godson is Lee Doolittle; niece Karen, and nephews, Michael Jr. and Michael Scott.

Visitation and services will be held at McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune: Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for visitation, and 1:00 p.m. for Memorial Services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Diabetes Foundation in Read’s name, 800 Avery Blvd N Ste 100, Ridgeland, Miss.
