Betty Smith Jolly

On Saturday, April 26, 2014, God sent his heavenly angels to bring his dear one home. Betty Jean Smith-Jolly was born on June 8, 1948 to the late Luther and Annie Smith in Flint, Mich. She was raised in Picayune, Miss. and attended G.W. Carver School.
She was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Pastor Harvey Bernard.
She worked as a cook for many years and later became a nursing assistant. Her hobbies were sewing, cooking and caring for everyone that she could help. She was known as “Aunt Betty” around the community. Someone that could be called a sister, a grandmother and an admirable and true friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Van and Annie Lee Smith. her son, Dealphonzo Jolly, a grandson, Damion Jones, Two sisters, Catherine Brown and Ruby Cade. Four brothers: Morris Brown Jr, Luther Smith Jr., Larry “Speck” Smith and Donald Ray “Skip” Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Three children, Jonathan Jolly, Gary (Tina) Jolly and Corceita Jenkins all of Picayune. Five grandchildren: Gary Van Buren, Aurorie Jenkins, Ma’Kenzie Reese, Dennis Jones, and Tia Jones, all of Picayune. Three brothers: William Smith, Charles (Shirley) Smith, Picayune; Robert (Danna) Smith, Gulfport; Nine Sisters: Elizabeth Trotter (Lacomb, La.); Monica (Greg) Moon, Poplarville; Mary (Wendell) Thomas, Patricia (Larry) Stubbs, Deborah (Willie) McCormick, Cheryl (James) McCormick, Cassandra Spencer, Yolandra Spencer and Joyce Ford all of Picayune.
Special Friends: LaShawn Peters, Tammy Spires and Patricia Banks. A host of neices, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral Service Thursday May 1, 2014 Visitation: 12:00 noon to 1 p.m. Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Outreach Ministries, Burial will be at Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
