PRCAL President Sheila Fletcher announced Mark King, an Ocean Springs native, who has been an active artist for more than 30 years will be this year’s judge in Traditional Art and 3- dimensional categories.

“We are excited to see Mark King return as our judge,” Fletcher said. “He understands the many mediums that are represented in the show and our artists have complete confidence in his judging. He is direct in his remarks and confident in his choices.”

King has a wide portfolio of talent in various mediums including oils, acrylics, watercolor, graphite, pen and ink, and soft sculpture, as well as clay sculpture and wheel production pottery.

He has received many local awards as well as contracts with local casinos for his paintings and ceramic work. He has taught beginning and intermediate pottery as well as other workshops at the Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Center of Arts and Education, in Ocean Springs. King is predominately a self-taught artist, who has spent years in graphic illustration for advertising. He currently owns and operates King’s Gallery in Ocean Springs.

Fletcher said the following categories will be judged for cash awards: A. Oil, B. Acrylic, C. Watercolor, D. Photography, E. Mixed and other Media and F. 3- D.

All categories but 3-D must be completely dry, framed or gallery wrapped with wire for hanging. Saw tooth hooks are not acceptable.

Three-dimensional work may not exceed 100 pounds and all work must have identification labels fixed to the back with the artist’s name, contact information, name of the piece and price.

All work must be original work of the artist. No workshop art will be accepted unless it is the artist’s original composition and design.

No nude artwork will be accepted.

The charge for each entry is $10 per item for PRCAL non-members and $5 per item for PRCAL members. Entry forms must be received by April 7, to be included in the show program.

Further rules and information can be obtained by either contacting 601-590-1199 or emailing prcartsleague@yahoo.com.

“We are looking forward to another wonderful spring show that stays in keeping with the long-standing, 40-year-tradition of showcasing local talent for our region,” Fletcher said.
