GULFPORT — The prep golf season in South Mississippi is off and swinging, and teams from Pearl River County are already making their mark on respective scorecards.

The Admiral Invitational Tournament was played Tuesday here at Great Southern Golf Course, and Pearl River Central captured the championship with a score of 308. Gulfport (313) was second, followed by Ocean Springs (314). Picayune was ninth.

The All-Tournament Team (five lowest scorers) were Zach Myers (64) of Ocean Springs, Gulfport’s Michael Hendrickson (71), Sean Smith of George County, Nick Sumner of PRC, and Blake Miller of Ocean Springs. Sumner shot a 72 and finished third.

Jon Brunson shot an 85 to pace Picayune.

Picayune will host a tournament Monday at Millbrook that will feature the Maroon Tide, the Blue Devils, Poplarville, Stone and Pass.
