Funeral Services for Melvin “Whistle” Fletcher , 74, of Carriere, Miss., who passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014, will be held Sunday, March 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 6- 9 p.m. at McDonald Funeral Home and again on Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 1- 2 p.m. service time at First Baptist Church of Picayune.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home.
Dr. Keith Warden will officiate the service.
A native of Metairie, La., he was a Contractor and a member of First Baptist Church of Picayune. Whistle was well known for his practical jokes and being a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a devout Christian who was well loved, well respected and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Robert Fletcher Sr. and Bessie Boutain Fletcher; and his brother, Robert Fletcher Jr.
Survivors include: his loving wife of over 44 wonderful years, Betty Fletcher; his two daughters, Tinsley A. Ducote and husband Gary, Amy R. Stephens and husband Terry; his two sons, Eric D. Fletcher and wife Heather, and Corey L. Fletcher; 10 grandchildren: Brandon, Lacy, and Celicia Ducote, Erica Tharpe and husband Ben, Brandon, Camey, Garrett, and Hunter Fletcher, Lauren Lamb and husband Angus and Jordan Stephens; 12 great-grandchildren: Cali, Chloe, Brandt, Aidan, Islay, Landon, Ethan, Victoria, Chase, Sierra, William and Breanna; his sister, Delores Scott; his three brothers, Julius “Buddy” Fletcher and wife Norma, Jerry Fletcher and wife Barbara, Raymond Fletcher and wife Edie; and his sister in law, Fran Fletcher; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; his best friend and brother in law, Charles “Coonie” Jordan.
